New Pro Hired - Welcome Anouk

New Pro Hired - Welcome Anouk

To the Smithers Golf & Country Club Membership

It is with a great deal of excitement and anticipation that the Board of Directors, on behalf of the SGCC, wishes to announce the hiring of Anouk Guelidi, who will take on the new role of Head Professional/Clubhouse Manager, effective February 19, 2018. After an intensive search and an interview process that included a number of qualified applicants, the Board of Directors has contracted the services of an established, lifelong Golf Professional, to a three year term. We are confident that in time, under her leadership, and with the support of the membership, the SGCC will flourish and continue to provide an environment in which its members can take pride.

In undertaking the search, the Hiring Committee had a strong mandate to address some very specific needs, deemed critical to the success of a potential candidate. Class (A) CPGA accreditation, management experience, and an enthusiastic teacher of the game were key attributes. And while these were important, the character, integrity, and professionalism of the candidate were essential to the process.

Anouk, fluent in several languages, comes to us from Ottawa, Ontario, where she has compiled an impressive resume of golf related experience. She is a highly qualified Professional who has spent time as a player on the European Ladies Tour, and has enjoyed the benefit of world class mentoring, upon deciding on a career as a Teaching Professional, Her experience gives her invaluable insight into the game we play, and the many years invested in sharing her knowledge will greatly benefit our membership.

Anouk has known the game and what it takes to play the game at the highest level and is committed to teaching others what she has learned. She becomes one of only five female Head Professionals in the Province, and given her desire to grow the game, she is certain to have an impact on our community. With a background in everything from marketing, to service, to management, taking on the role of Head Professional/Clubhouse Manager will allow Anouk every opportunity to bring not only her teaching skills, but her business acumen to bear. We are confident in her ability to meet the demands of the longstanding tradition that is the SGCC and are proud to call her one of our own.

And so, we look forward to the coming season, to a course that promises to spring to life, and to the building of new relationships. We encourage your support of not only Anouk, but all those who strive to provide us with the best possible golf experience. It is our hope that your welcome of our new Head Professional/Club Manager will be every bit as enthusiastic as is your love for the game. We trust you are as eager as we are to get back at it.

Here's to the best year ever,
The Executive
